To Town of Chester Planning Board:
As residents of the Hamlet of Sugar Loaf, the CPC and homeowners of Creamery Pond are particularly and passionately invested in the vibrant health of our community. As both individuals, and a group, we are thrilled about the current rebirth taking place in our sleepy little village. The recent opening of the Sugar Loaf Tap House has brought a sense of life back to the hamlet that it has sorely missed in recent past, and the town of Chester’s purchase of the Performing Arts Center has provided a hopeful anticipation to everyone waiting to see what incredible acts and entertainment the facility is sure to draw. Sugar Loaf is teeming with potential and we are happy to see entrepreneurs and investors seeing value in our home. However, as with any revitalization, there are always new propositions being brought forth to analyze in terms of risk and benefit. While many projects are wonderful and serve to move our community in a positive direction, others pose a serious risk to the safety, health, and integrity of our bucolic village. The Sugar Loaf Distillery and Catering Hall project proposed by Mr. Donnelly at 1355 Kings Highway is an area of particular concern. In the following report, we will document the many issues, challenges, risks and dangers as we see them with the current project as it is proposed.
